Come and Stir up your Compassion…
Announcing Compassion Sunday
April 22nd
Come out to Faith on Compassion Sunday as the Outreach team
presents an educational and awareness program to support three Christian-based
charitable organizations. Learn about God’s call in our lives to support the
“least of these” around the world, and to “cry out for the poor and needy.”
The three
organizations and their projects are:
Compassion International, a
Christ-centered and child-focused non-profit which serves to change the story of
needy children abroad through child sponsorship and correspondence between the
child and his/her sponsor.
Lutheran World Relief’s Malaria Project Through this
charitable extension of the Lutheran Church, the LWR’s goal is to eradicate
malarial deaths in Africa by 2015 through the distribution of mosquito nets and
education about malaria.
OASIS Soup Kitchen and Food Bank As a long-standing
presence in the city of Portsmouth, this church-supported organization purposes
to help feed the homeless of the community through body, mind, and spirit. Faith
will be collecting canned goods to support this worthy cause.
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy
and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility,
gentleness and patience.” Colossians 3:12
Mark your calendars for this exciting
event as we present videos and skits and encourage the whole congregation to get
involved in serving God’s people around the globe!
