The History of Faith Lutheran Church
We first met at John Yeates Middle School, beginning in April, 1990. Our organizing Pastor was Richard Browder, who, with his wife, Jo, visited much of Northern Suffolk, extending an invitation to be part of Faith Lutheran Church.We moved to Sturtevant Funeral Home, immediately next to the current Church, in 1995. Our land was purchased and building began in early 1997. Our dedication day was October 26, 1997. We placed a time capsule in the corner of the narthex, to be opened in 2047.
After Pastor Browder left, we were served by Pastor Richard F. Batman for 1 1/2 years as we began our pastoral search. Pastor Scott Benson, with his wife Babs and daughters Kelly and Emily, arrived in August, 2000.
Our current membership (a/o Dec, 2006) is 249 baptized members with average attendance of 174.
